I agree with Lammot in that the first draft is more so about expressing ideas rather than what you’ve actually produced. Lammot explained the importance of revision in her own work and how most of the writers she knows are the same way. The first draft is a place to let your mind roam, you have a topic or maybe the setting in mind but not yet a coherent story to tell. After you get your ideas on paper you can reread, add and subtract what you may or may not like which builds upon your setting and story. The more you look over your work the more you will find yourself adding and making the story real rather than just ideas.
